Breathwork Morocco

Breathwork Morocco

Breathwork uses focused breathing techniques to access altered states of consciousness, similar to those induced by psychedelic substances.

These states offer opportunities for profound insights, performance enhancement & emotional release by tapping into the subconscious mind.

What happens in a class?

Each session lasts 1.5-2h and will be held lying down. We start with a 15 minutes introduction. After that, all you have to do is breathe! I will be present at all times to ground you, motivate you and help you integrate the experience.

Breathwork in essence is your body’s tool to activate your innate healing power, catalyse personal transformation and nurture greater self-awareness.

F.A.Q.

What is Transformational Breathwork?

Transformational Breathwork is a style of “Breathwork” based in “Conscious Connected Breathing”. Unique about this style is the emphasis on subconscious reprogramming through affirmations, body-awareness and autosuggestion.

What are the health indications?

Conscious Connected Breathing should not be practiced by people with the following contraindications:

– Heart Attacks, High Blood Pressure, Angina
– Glaucoma Or Retinal Detachment
– Family History of Aneurysms or Seizures
– Panic Attacks or Psychosis
– Pregnant or Breastfeeding
– Recent Injury Or Surgery
– Cardiovascular Disease
– Severe Mental Illness
– Lithium Medication

If you are in doubt, always contact a medical professional.

What are the benefits?

– Reduction In Stress
– Reduction Anxiety
– Reduction Depression
– Heightened Sense Of Clarity
– Increased Focus
– A Better Sense Of Wellbeing
– Feeling More Grounded
– Feeling More Clear

What is Breathwork?

With Breathwork, you use the “Breath” to control the body and mind. Your breath has a direct impact on your autonomic nervous system, which impacts almost every other process of the body (and mind). Through breath awareness and breath control you can become aware of – and influence – many of your mental, emotional, and physical processes.

What is Conscious Connected Breathing?

With this technique you offload CO2, which creates an oxygen fast on a cellular level and alters your state of consciousness. This triggers a physical emotional release, while you mentally enter a meditation-like trance.

This breathing practice is first mentioned in the Vedas (< 6000 BC). When LSD therapy became illegal in the 1960’s, psychiatrist Stanislov Grof started (the Holotropic Breath movement,) using Conscious Connected Breathing to induce trance states to treat and research patients with depression, ptsd, trauma, and other nervous system disorders. This movement developed a vast body of research, which is elaborated on by various related modalities (Wim Hof Breathing etc.).

Is this safe?

This is a deep transcendental practice, in which the practitioner self-regulates the experience. The deeper and longer you breathe, the more impact the experience has on the physical, mental and emotional plane. Because of the effect on the endocrine, cardiovascular and nervous system, there are several contraindications (see below).

How does this relate to trauma?

Everyone has trauma. When we go into freeze response, we do not process our emotions, and store them in the body. Later, the nervous system will try to avoid anything that can remind it of this experience.

For trauma, breathwork is an excellent catalyst for somatic (physical) release. Instead of desensitising yourself to the memory of the trauma (what most therapies do), you release the physical emotional residue of the trauma, while you teach your mind to be in the present.

“If you want to learn to manage your emotions better, your brain gives you two options. You can learn to regulate them from the top-down, or from the bottom-up.

Knowing the difference is central for understanding and healing from traumatic stress. Top down regulation involves strengthening the connection of your prefrontal cortex (the watchtower) to monitor the body’s sensors. Mindfulness meditation and yoga can help with this.

Bottom-up regulation involves recalibrating the autonomic nervous system, which originates in the brain stem. We can access the ANS through breath, movement and touch. Breathing is one of the few bodily functions under both conscious and autonomic control.”

What is a group session like?

Each session is intuitively guided, but to give you a general idea:

First we open with a little meditation, followed with an introduction on breathwork and the theme of the journey. Then we lay down, clarify our intentions, and ground ourselves in our body.

Then we breathe together, and I open up to be a channel for divine love.

From there you continue to breathe, and depending on each person, (the trauma,) the intention, the moment, and the desired emotional state, you intuitively adapt where you breathe (chest, belly or both) and how you breathe (nose, mouth, depth, intensity..). I guide you and gently push you to go beyond your comfort zone, you do the work, and you are in full control.

You self-induce your trance state, and self-regulate the depth of your experience. I can only guide you, push you gently, be fully present, and suggest different ways of seeing and experiencing your self and your past.

You are the one who is doing the work (breathing), the feeling, and the healing.

If you are emotionally free or insensitive, you go strong, breathe deep, and go for a powerful break-through experience. If you are highly traumatised, or super sensitive, you don’t need a lot of movement to trigger stored emotions.

Sometimes people run into blocks, trauma or suppressed emotions. If that happens with you, this is a great opportunity to somatically release and detach from the past. You can do this by switching back and forward from trauma consciousness to body (breath) consciousness, to slowly accustom the nervous system to this memory, and let go of the associated fear and stress response.

Your physical reaction has served to protect you in the past, but now it is limiting you in your life. This is not who you are, it’s a protection mechanism that is no longer serving you. By feeling the hurt in a safe, loving and grounded environment, you can release the fear, train the nervous system, and open up to freedom.

Later in the session we open up to higher emotional vibrations, like gratitude, joy, love, freedom. We start to consciously tune into these frequencies, and teach the body-mind (nervous system) that we can deliberately choose our emotional state with intentional awareness.

Then you enter into a deep state of meditation. And finally we anchor this state of being into your body. At the end you integrate, and if you feel like it we communicate.

What an incredible experience!! Feeling very very grateful ❤️🙏 Thank you!
